Answering the Call to Be a Good Neighbor
Each year EPS answers the call to participate in Salvation Army’s Christmas Stocking Program. Stockings are hung in our office letting staff know it’s time to get to work.
We like working with the Salvation Army as they have an established reputation for helping those in need. Their extra efforts at Christmas time are noticed by all our neighbors in Wilmington. They put out the call for those of us more fortunate to shop for toys and warm hats and gloves, etc. to assist those who are less fortunate. This year we chose to stuff stockings for the age groups that typically receive less than others. Once we got started staff pulled together and shopped for boys and girls between ages 0-2 and 10-12. We got so enthusiastic that the stockings overflowed and we donated the extra using paper bags, etc.
It can be a struggle for anyone to fulfill the dreams and needs of the children and we wanted to be a part of making sure no child woke up to an empty stocking. We did our part in our neighborhood and wish all our neighboring families the peace and joy if this season
