Head Technician at Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Karen Lawton, began spending 3 days a week on a new assignment. This change in focus took Karen to Polytech Adult Education where she became the instructor for a 3 month course training new ophthalmology technicians. Did you know there is a shortage of well-trained ophthalmology technicians? Karen had 10 students who completed this 12 week course. Included in the syllabus was a trip to EPS to shadow our well-trained ophthalmology techs. They considered this trip from Dover to Wilmington worth while as they gained first hand knowledge of what it will be like when they enter the workforce. This was advantagious to EPS as well as one of Karen's students did her externship at EPS after completing this course. EPS feels the best way to exellent care is through education.
EPS is proud of Karen's accomplishments and career growth. As a technician and teacher she has broadened her base of knowledge and ex[eroemce. In turn, she has made EPS a better and stronger practice for all patients.
