Trying on Glasses
Dr. Paula Ko returned from her mission trip to Haiti where she accompanied students and adults from the Episcopal Academy in Pennsylvania. This was her 3rd trip and during these 3 years of activity a great deal has been accomplished, i.e. they have built a school, brought solar panels for electricity and clean, running water and provided medical services. Each year Dr. Ko does eye screenings and this year about 100 patients were seen in 2 days! She diagnosed cataracts and glaucoma and gave out free glasses that can be used for reading or sewing. She also distributed prescription glasses.
Besides ophthalmology services, dental services were provided to pull teeth and medical patients were seen.
The future looks brighter for the people in the little village of Cerca on the top of a mountain in Haiti. Dr. Ko would love to be able to do surgery there and teach surgical techniques to Haitian doctors.
Wouldn't it be great if we could provide support by way of donating supplies? We will begin to advise you early next spring about any opportunity available!
